Summerville
The Summerville Depot and Turntable is located in the heart of the Historic District in downtown Summerville. Standing for over 100 years, the Summerville Depot is full of history and life. Home to one of the few operating railroad turntables in the United States, the Summerville Depot serves as the welcoming point for tourists from near and far year round and is registered on the National Registry of Historic Places. During “Steam Into Summerville Railroad Days”you can step back in time each Saturday in October though mid November to welcome the Tennessee Valley Railroad Passenger Trains pulled by historic steam engines. In celebration, craft fairs and various events and festivals are held. Train enthusiasts gather to watch and photograph the giant engines as they are turned on the Summerville Turntable. Special train arrivals occur throughout the year. The Summerville Depot offers special Summerville Santa Train Excursions that board in Summerville during weekends in December.
