| Arts Festival at Rose Lawn to Host Record Number of Artists in September More than 85 artists have been selected for the 34th Annual Arts Festival at Rose Lawn to be held in Cartersville, Georgia on September 19-20. “This will be the largest show ever at Rose Lawn,” said Rose Lawn Executive Director Jane Drew. “We are pleased with the diversity and expertise exhibited in the juried arts & crafts this year.” The show takes place Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday Noon-5 p.m. on the spacious lawn of historic Rose Lawn, the home of evangelist Sam Jones. Admission is free. In addition to fine arts and crafts, visitors may enjoy Victorian House Museum Tours ($4 per person), a variety of southern foods and treats, the annual AAUW Book Sale, and live entertainment onstage. Don’t miss the prestigious People’s Choice Awards for Best Restaurant, Best Shoppe, and Best Attraction, presented at Noon on Saturday by the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with the Juried Artists Awards and the Hospitality Heroes Awards. There’s many new surprises at Cagle’s Corn MAiZE in Resaca. Come get lost in the MAiZE and experience the world’s largest jumping pillow. The Northwest Georgia Regional Fair takes place September 11-19 on GA Hwy 53 and this year features the all new Dixieland Carnival Company. Balloons & Tunes Festival Coming to Rock Spring in September The Walker County Chamber of Commerce invites you to the 2009 Balloons and Tunes Festival, which takes place September 18-20, in beautiful Rock Spring, Georgia off US 27. Ringgold Gap Civil War Festival & Haunted Depot The City of Ringgold invites you to two upcoming events: the new Ringgold Gap Civil War Festival, and the popular Haunted Depot. The Ringgold Telephone Company and the City of Ringgold are proud to present the first annual Ringgold Gap Festival, honoring General Patrick Cleburne. The two-day event, scheduled for October 2-3, will be a celebration of the arts. Bartow History Museum Hosts An Evening at Oak Hill Cemetery Voice will echo once again in Oak Hill Cemetery October 3, as the Bartow History Museum and StageWorks, Inc. presents “An Evening at Oak Hill”. This tour through one of Bartow County’s most important historic sites will give visitors the opportunity to learn about some of the area’s fascinating residents of days past. Costumed actors will portray various Bartow Countians buried in the cemetery. Guides will take groups through the cemetery, stopping at the graves of those portrayed by the actors. Tours begin at 6 p.m. and take place each half hour, with the final tour at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale September 1, must be purchased in advance and are limited for each tour. Tickets are $15 per person, and $10 for BHM members. Tours last approximately one hour and involve hilly terrain. Guests are encouraged to bring a flashlight, and an umbrella in case of rain. Martha Berry’s Oak Hill to Offer Behind The Ropes Tours in September During the month of September, Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum will offer “Behind the Ropes” tours, open to the public and included with regular admission costs. The tours provide visitors unprecedented access to the home of Berry College founder Martha Berry. The guided tours will take guests beyond the velvet ropes and into the private life of Miss Berry. Guests will have the opportunity to view Martha Berry’s clothing, bathrooms and items such as sewing kits from the early 1920s. The Prater’s Mill Country Fair returns to Dalton, October 10-11 Discover a hidden treasure of Appalachia’s people at the Prater’s Mill Country Fair on October 10-11 near Dalton, Georgia. The Prater’s Mill Country Fair is an outdoor festival of more than 200 juried artists and craftsmen, talented musicians and good cooks.
