The Weinman Mineral Museum in Cartersville, Georgia is the only museum in the southeast where you can "Play in the Dirt"! The museum has special exhibits on international and local minerals, birthstones, Georgia mining, and even a simulated mine tunnel with glow-in-the-dark minerals! Other educational exhibits include displays on "Minerals That You Eat", the Geologic Regions of Georgia, and a Fossil Room containing specimens from around the world and representing all periods of geologic time. Many temporary exhibits are scheduled throughout the year. Outdoor exhibits and activities include: antique mining equipment, rock garden, and panning for gemstones and digging for fossils. The museum is open from 10:00am-5:00Pm Monday through Saturday, Closed on Sundays. $4 Adults, $3.50 Seniors $3 Children (6-11). 770-386-0576
